The Loretta Brown Show – 06 – 06 – 19 – Mark Coleman

Topic: Mark Coleman is the author of From Suffering to Peace, Make Peace with Your Mind, and Awake in the Wild. He is the founder of the Mindfulness Institute and has an MA in clinical psychology. Mark has guided students on five continents as a corporate consultant, counselor, meditation teacher, and wilderness guide. Author Mark Coleman, who has been teaching mindfulness for over 20 years in a wide array of settings such as Buddhist temples, tech companies, hospitals, universities, prisons, and more, draws on his knowledge and life experience to clarify the true promise of mindfulness. In his book “From Suffering to Peace” explores the full breadth of mindfulness and brings close attention to four key areas in life: to the body, the mind, the heart, and the world in which we live. Coleman discusses how, through regular practice, readers can learn to bring awareness to these key realms of experience. He also provides meditations, reflections, and practices to help readers develop a real understanding and felt the experience of the impact mindfulness can have on their daily lives. “My hope with this book is to provide a comprehensive, clear understanding of the depth and scope of these ancient teachings, as well as to shed light on their contemporary applications,” writes Coleman. “That requires leaving no stone unturned as we explore our mind, body, heart, and world and discover what causes our pain and stress and what truly supports a life of well-being and peace.” Mark currently lives in Northern California.
