There is no more practical or effective system to guide us into the of the Shaman than Huna, the esoteric and spiritual philosophy which originated in the heart of Polynesia, it is the foundation of many of the shamanic traditions of Hawaii.
Although, Hawaiian Shamanism or Huna may seem quite geographically specific and rather esoteric, it is a practical philosophy that offers readers and students a universal shamanic paradigm that is cross-culturally related to every indigenous spiritual tradition, and is also surprisingly inclusive of many tenets of contemporary psychology, holistic health, and even quantum sciences. Huna offers a framework for successful living that has resonance far beyond the south Pacific.
While Jonathan’ s style of the book is fun and inspirational, he also wrote to provoke and stretch the reader into new ways of seeing themselves and the world. He asks the reader to actively engage in what they are reading, to be self-reflective, to start to make substantive changes in their lives, as they work through each of the experiential practices that he provides throughout the book. Jonathan Hammond is a teacher, energy healer, shamanic practitioner, and spiritual counselor. Before beginning his work in holistic health and spirituality, he had a career as an award-winning actor appearing on Broadway and on television.
A graduate of Harvard University and the University of Michigan, Jonathan is an Interfaith minister and certified spiritual counselor. He also holds certificates as a Master Teacher in Shamanic Reiki, in Cherokee Bodywork, in Ho’oponopono and is an ordained Alakai (leader guide) through Aloha International.
