Thanks to the efforts of Higher Wellness Radio (the team seen in the attached photo), heard on Alternative Talk 1150 every Tuesday from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m., the Safe Our Swirled campaign made a stop at the offices of KKNW. The public awareness campaign is a collaboration between Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, Tesla Motors, and Avaaz. The three entities have joined up to collect signatures from ice cream fans in more than 35 nations around the world. The signatures will be added to a petition aimed at spurring on the UN climate talks in Paris, which are scheduled for later this year. The goal is to see a global shift to 100% clean energy by 2050 and complete phase-out of carbon pollution.
The process of collecting signatures has been a delicious one thanks to a specially modified Tesla Motors vehicle that doubles as a zero emission ice cream “truck.” For its part, Ben & Jerry developed a new flavor, SOS, or Save Our Swirled. The ice cream blend includes raspberry, marshmallow and raspberry swirls, plus dark and white fudge ice cream cones. While cooling off with ice cream, visitors to the mobile display can learn about global warming and put their name down as a concerned citizen.
The vehicle and Ben & Jerry representatives will be seen at various local community events throughout the Puget Sound this summer. You can learn more about the campaign by clicking here.
