Provacative Enlightenment lives up to its name in June

Tune in Thursdays at 1 p.m. during the month of June and hear fascinating and provocative programming, all courtesy of Eldon and Ravinder Taylor.

Here’s s what to expect in June from Provocative Enlightenment:

TRUTH: HOW MANY SIDES TO EVERY STORY SHAPE OUR REALITY WITH AUTHOR HECTOR MACDONALD. . .We like to think that there is a clear distinction between true and false. The reality is far murkier. Truth can be spun in the names used, the context applied, the omissions committed, the framing deployed and many other ways. “Truth” can look very different to different people. Macdonald explains how these so-called “competing truths” are used both constructively and misleadingly by businesses, media, politicians, advertisers, and even regular people having regular conversations.

BEFORE YOU KNOW IT: THE UNCONSCIOUS REASONS WE DO WHAT WE DO WITH PROFESSOR JOHN BARGH. . .For the past 35 years we have studied unconscious mental processes scientifically, how they operate and influence the average person, which paints a very different picture from Freud’s version which was based on a handful of mentally ill individuals. This is the first time in human history we have a systematic and scientific understanding of how our hidden mind works.

NEVER SPLIT THE DIFFERENCE: NEGOTIATING AS IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDED ON IT WITH CHRIS VOSS. . .Chris Voss is CEO of the Black Swan Group and author of the national best-seller “Never Split The Difference: Negotiating As If Your Life Depended On It,” which was named one of the seven best books on negotiation. Chris has used his many years of experience in international crisis and high stakes negotiations as an FBI agent to develop a unique program and team that applies these globally proven techniques to the business world. Chris and his team have helped companies secure and close better deals, save money, and solve internal communication problems between senior management and employees.

INTELLECTUAL HUMILITY WITH DR. IAN CHURCH. . .Dr. Church is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Hillsdale College. He was a co-PI (with Ducan Pritchard) on the Intellectual Humility Massive Open Online Course project at the University of Edinburgh, and he is currently the Principal Investigator on the “Problem of Evil and Experimental Philosophy of Religion” project—both projects being generously funded by the John Templeton Foundation. Dr. Church earned his PhD from the St Andrews-Stirling Joint Programme in Philosophy in 2012, and his current research includes work on intellectual virtues, the Gettier Problem epistemic luck, fallibilism, disagreement, non-reductive models of knowledge, intuitions, religious epistemology, philosophy of psychology, and cognitive science.

Provocative Enlightenment, offers a novel, yet hard-hitting approach to those formally soft questions that everyone is interested in, such as: Who am I? What does this all mean? How do I maximize my life experience?

Walking the fine line between the outer edges of hard science and the New Age extremes, host Eldon Taylor covers subjects that are relevant to us all by aiming for the heavens while keeping feet firmly on the ground. Eldon has interviewed a large variety of guests, ranging from famous actors such as Lindsay Wagner and Linda Evans, to Congressman Tim Ryan and biologist Rupert Sheldrake, Other guests have included renowned psychologist Stanley Krippner and famous medium James Van Praagh.

For his part Eldon Taylor is an award winning New York Times best-selling author of over 300 books and audio/video programs, and is the host of the popular syndicated radio show, Provocative Enlightenment. His most recent works include Gotcha: The Subordination of Free Will, Choices and Illusions, I Believe, Mind Programming, What Does That Mean?, What If?, and Self-Hypnosis and Subliminal Technology. Eldon has earned doctoral degrees in both clinical and pastoral psychology and is a Fellow in the American Psychotherapy Association as well as a certified Master Chaplain.

Assisting on all levels of the show is Ravinder Taylor, co-host who also holds a B.Sc. degree in microbiology from Aberystwyth University in Wales, a Bachelors degree in Metaphysics from the University of Metaphysics in Sedona, Arizona, has studied hypnosis and psychotherapy at the National College of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy in London, England, and is an ordained interdenominational minister.
