*Attorney Jesse Wineberry, Sr., Initiative 1000 (I-1000) campaign leader to restore Affirmative Action that witnessed the support of almost 400,000 registered voters and passed into law by the Washington State Legislature April 28, 2019. This ray of hope comes after 20 years of legalized discrimination with the passage of Initiative-200 (I-200) in 1998 that banned Affirmative Action in education, employment, and contracting opportunities with public agencies. Dr. Wineberry will update the strategy to pass I-1000 that will be on the November ballot.

*Kali Holloway, Director, Make It Right Project, an organization dedicated to removing Confederate Monuments from public spaces. There are a number of Confederate General named Army bases primarily in the South, including one named for General John Brown Gordon, the reputed head of the Reconstruction-era Ku Klux Klan in Georgia. Highway 99 in Washington State was named for Confederate President Jefferson Davis from the Canadian border to the Oregon border in 1941 and we recently changed that. In Seattle a Confederate Monument is placed in Lake View Cemetery on Capitol Hill.

*Lena Tuffaha, is a Palestinian-American author, poet and activist will comments on President Trump’s involvement with the dis invitation to US Representatives Omar and Tlaib visit to Israel.

*Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II represents Missouri’s 5th congressional district which includes most of Kansas City. He comments on the mass murders by white domestic terrorist responsible for the slaughter of innocent people in El Paso and Dayton. And talks about the influence of the Congressional Black Caucus Members that chair 21 committees and sub committees in the House of Representatives.

*Attorney Jesse Wineberry, Sr., a leader in the successful Initiative 1000 (I-1000) a petition to the voters of Washington State to restore Affirmative Action that was eliminated Affirmative Action in 1998 by Initiative-200 (I-200). The I-1000 campaign garnered nearly 400,000 signatures and was passed into law by the legislature April 28, 2019 and will now be challenged on the ballot by Referendum 88 that opposes Affirmative Action.

*Nat Jackson was the sponsor of I-1000 and the initiative was endorsed by former Governors Dan Evans (R), Gary Locke (D), Christine Gregoire (D), and current Governor Jay Inslee (D) and a presidential contender.

She also comments on Sistas Rock the Arts sponsor open mike, spoken word, and live music every Thursday night at Rhumba Notes Lounge in Columbia City.

*Estela Ortega, Executive Director, El Centro de la Raza comments on the slaughter of innocent people in El Paso and Dayton. She organized a sympathy rally on Tuesday and commented on President Donald J. Trump’s hateful rhetoric that’s inspiring domestic terrorist to murder people of color in OUR COUNTRY.

Toyia talks about after her ACT-SO experience how Mrs. Riley Payne came back to support her in Washington DC when she competed for and won Miss America Washington DC.

*Chasidy Douglas has been leading the media outreach for the Carolyn Riley Payne Appreciation Day Committee and will share her experience with ACT-SO under Mrs. Payne’s leadership.

*Cathie Wilmore, Fathers and Sons Together (FAST) in partnership with Baseball Beyond Borders (Bookie Gates) will be offering an Empowerment Baseball Camp on Saturday, July 20 10:00 am-2:00 pm at Rainier Beach High School Baseball Play-field. *Dr. Ben Danielson, UW eSports and Odessa Brown and Seattle Childrens leader comments on the importance of Urban Games. A free community health and fitness event. Youth participate in organized physical activity, taught healthy eating habits, receive CPR training, free diabetes and hypertension checks, and dental screenings.

*Winona Hague comments on the Urban Games event for youth 5-22 years of age that will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019 1:00 -5:00 pm at the Garfield Community Center. National Basketball Association (NBA) Hall of Fame Player and Coach Lenny Wilkens of the 1979 NBA World Champion Seattle Supersonics will be honored at the event.

*Dr. Jesse Wineberry, SR., JD comments on the commitment that the University of Washington President Ana Mari Cauce announced that she is initiating a review of the institutions practices in admissions, hiring, and contracting to lay the initial groundwork to implement I-1000.

*Toyia Taylor, MC, Carolyn Riley Payne Appreciation Day Committee comments on the workings of the committee to honor Mrs. Riley Payne for 40 years (1979-2018) of service and leadership to students and others who participated in the Seattle King County NAACP Afro Cultural Technological Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO).
