Chiron, a son of Cronus (Saturn), was the good centaur; a half man and horse, who taught many of the heroes of mythology. As a master healer, Chiron was called the “wisest and justest of all the centaurs” and granted a second immortality by Zeus after being wounded by a poisoned arrow he had been unable to heal. He became a constellation – Chiron, from Greek, meaning: “hand”.
