University of Washington women's basketball team plays Portland

2014-15 UW Women’s Basketball

The Husky women are back on the air here on Alternative Talk 1150, and this year’s team is loaded with talent, experience and depth for 2nd year head coach Mike Neighbors. Expectations are high for a Husky squad that returns perhaps the best backcourt in the country, All-Pac-12 guards senior Jazmine Davis and sophomore Kelsey Plum. The Dawgs also return forwards senior Aminah Williams and junior Talia Walton who helped Washington to a third-straight 20-win season and a run to the quarterfinals of the WNIT last year.

Super senior Jazmine Davis lit up Colorado last Friday night (1/23/15) at Alaska Airlines Arena as the Huskies rallied in the second half overcoming a double digit deficit to down the Buffaloes 85-82. In addition to leading all scorers with 25, Jaz also become the all-time leading scorer in UW women’s basketball, surpassing Husky legend Jaime Redd’s career scoring record of 2,027 points. Kelsey Plum, Talia Walton and Chantel Osahor also came up big for the Dawgs. An injured Utah team came in on Sunday (1/25/15) and made it a grinder for the Huskies, but Kelsey Plum was up for the challenge with 26 points to pace Washington to a gutty 63-51 to improve to 5-3 in Pac-12 play.

This week, the 15-4 Husky women travel to the Bay Area for a key matchup against the Cal Bears on Saturday at 2:30PM, and then it’s the 11th ranked Stanford Cardinal on Monday at 7PM. These are both huge conference games, and you can catch all the action right here on Alternative Talk 1150. Steve Sandmeyer provides the call along with the Husky Courtside Show starting 30 minutes before the start of each game…so LET’S GO DAWGS!
