Zen Meditation
March 26th, 2012 2:45pm

The EcoSangha combines a weekly Zen practice with a broader Buddhist concern for the environment. The group seeks to foster both Buddhist practice and serious reflection on Buddhist teachings as they apply to today's ecological challenges. The group hosts many related events, including monthly lectures on various aspects of Buddhist ecology, featuring a wide range of guest speakers as well as speakers from within the group. Other events include special seminars and Sesshin (an intensive, day-long meditation in the foothills of the Cascades). The group is open to the faculty, staff, and students of SU, as well as to the general public. EcoSangha is led by Drs. Jason Wirth, Elizabeth Sikes, and Bill Hirsch, all of whom are ordained priests of the White Cloud Buddhist school.
